Road America is a motorsport road course located north of Milwaukee (Wisconsin, USA), about a 2 hours drive from Chicago. The track opened in 1955 but in the years before they already raced on ad-hoc circuits on the public roads. The track was built by local civil engineer Cliff Tufte, who created the 14-turn 6.5 km long (4 miles) track, literally over hill and dale. He took advantage of the hillsides next to many parts of the track to provide natural viewing areas for spectators.

The track currently hosts races in the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, IndyCar Series, SCCA Pirelli World Challenge, ASRA, AMA Superbike series, and SCCA Pro Racing's Trans-Am Series.

The only addition made to the track in all those years is an optional chicane at Road America’s famous “kink” in the back straightaway, providing a second configuration for race series that don’t wish to expose their drivers to one of motorsport’s biggest thrills.
