Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC)
The Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) is a sports car racing series developed in 2016 by the SRO Motorsports Group. It consists of international endurance races for GT racing cars complying with the FIA's GT3 regulations.
The series is aimed at manufacturers. Instead of fielding their own cars, manufacturers can appoint and support local teams in selected events to gain points. Four manufacturers took part in the inaugural series in 2016: Audi, Bentley, McLaren and Mercedes.
The title is awarded to the manufacturer with the most points. A manufacturer can enter up to four cars in any event but only receives points for its two highest placed cars. Drivers’ titles are awarded in the Pro category and the Am category.
In these endurance races not all cars are taking part in the IGTC competition: you can recognize the cars that are part of the IGTC competition by the white banner on top of the windshield. They also have circular logos of the IGTC but that is less obvious to spot during the race.
These are the manufacturers that compete in the current season (2021): Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche, the reigning champion.
Normally there are 4 endurance races distributed over 4 different continents. The races and continents may change from year to year.
